About Our Farm

Why "Feast House"?

Cheyenne and I (Brian) were married in 2019, and we agreed that one of the pillars of our marriage was going to be radical hospitality. Despite living in a small two-bedroom apartment for the first year-and-a-half of marriage, we hosted people every week. Sometimes just for dinner, sometimes for weeks on end if a friend needed a safe place to stay. After moving back to Cheyenne's hometown of Rochester, MN in 2021, Cheyenne founded Wonderfully Made Midwifery and I took a role as a director at Camp Victory Ministries in Zumbro Falls. We never abandoned our mission of radical hospitality and continued to host people every week as our family grew, welcoming two little girls over those years. But the passion for feeding and hosting only grew fiercer when we decided to start gardening. Taking part in the Genesis mandate to work and keep the Earth revealed to me that not only did I love feeding people, I loved feeding them food I grew even more.

We began designating Sunday evening as "feast night". We wanted to set one meal apart every week that was a cut above the rest in labor intensity, quality of ingredients, and overall sensory experience. We purchased special plates, cloth napkins, glassware, and silverware that were to only be used for Sunday feasts. Ingredients from our garden and other local sources were almost always the foundation of our feasts. A wine or other beverage pairing was thoughtfully selected to accompany the meal. As we learned to appreciate this new custom for ourselves, we decided it was in the best interest of our marital mission that we should invite other families to join us for Sunday feasts as well. Our house slowly became affectionately referred to as the "feast house."

As the dream of feeding people wonderful food that was cared for from seed back to soil evolved, we realized it would be a reasonable goal to purchase land of a sufficient size for small agriculture and larger-scale horticulture. After many prayerful months, the Lord led us to the property that we now love, tend, and call Feast House Farms. We believe it will be through these 12 acres that we can begin to help others redeem meal time and restore joy to the preparation of a thoughtful feast shared with family and friends. Even more so, it is our hope that we will lead others to feast in anticipation of the greatest feast yet to come.

"Blessed are those invited to the marriage feast of the Lamb." - Revelation 19:9b (NASB)
